Everything is News!

Events that occur and then are communicated via the internet, the press or person to person is news. The news is a way that the public can keep a greater sense of what occurs locally, nationally and internationally. It allows us to have an understanding of what is going on, with the trust that we are being presented with the truth. We are guaranteed this right in the First Amendment; freedom of speech and press. Although sometimes a news story is full of defamation and lies that entices the story for the consumer. Slander sells. The way the news is delivered to us is media. The media deems what is important, and then presents that to the public. It may not influence what we think, but it certainly determines what we think about. The heavy influence the media has on today’s society has given it the name of ‘fourth estate’, implying its power and controversy. The media’s influence has a strong social and cultural impact on the public opinion and the public behavior.
