How do you define a "good" multimedia piece?

Most journalists spend a fair amount of their time crafting multimedia pieces as well as their traditional stories. These pieces contain, just as the name suggests, multiple forms of media as well as the written text.

A good multimedia piece will contain any of the following: video, music, sound bites, pictures, slideshows, graphs, and so on. It should be very informative, as the creator has many different forms of media at his or her disposal to reach the reader in different ways.

The advantage of a multimedia piece is this arsenal available. Some readers aren’t “touched” by a simple news story with a picture and blocks of text. A stunning video or slide show of bright photographs may do the trick. A journalist’s goal is to relay news to the public that they are interested in, and multimedia pieces are a very effective way of doing so.
