Journalists and the first amendment

Journalists have an extremley important job. What they do is find information that is controversial and often involves public people, their job is important because it keeps the public informed about what it is going in our society. Though since their job often involves exposing powerful public figures that have the money and power to sue these journalists it is necessary that they are protected under our constitution. That is why the first amendment is so important because without it journalists would not have their right to freedom of speech and thus not be protected by the law. Also without the first amendment then the public would be less informed about what is going on in our government and with our public figures.
