News for Broadcast

A good radio or television broadcast is easily understood, tight, and immediate.

In a broadcast, it is necessary to capture the listener's attention by being clear and straightforward. People are generally multitasking while watching the news or listening to the radio, so it is important to engage the audience with simple, but honest, words.

In print, news stories usually require immediacy, but there is more availability to use details and specifics. Radio and television broadcasts, on the other hand, require only the absolute necessary information.

Broadcasts are also very effective in setting the scene through visuals and sounds. The viewers and listeners are able to immerse themselves in the story.

Both print and broadcast stories involve the use of the inverted pyramid, but broadcast stories are much more personal and conversational.
