TV and Radio vs. Print

When working with a news story in radio or TV one needs to be able to know exactly what makes a good news story for the radio and a good news story for TV and print.

In saying this, first of all when working with radio, a news story needs to be concise and to the point. When your working with a news story for TV, it needs to be a little more in depth while describing all the main aspects of the story. The only main difference between the two is that with radio one needs be able to summarize the situation much more while still concentrating on getting the main points of the story out.

But when dealing with print it allows the writer to really communicate the main ideas while still concentrating on the main story. Because there are not time constraints it allows the writer to dive deeper into a specific story instead of working with three or four stories which they might have to present in two minutes or less. Finally when all is said and done, print stories are much more descriptive while stories in radio and TV will only cover some points.
