Multimedia: The New Technology

Multimedia is a new technology that is bringing news to audiences in more interactive ways. Multimedia is a combination of text, still photographs, video clips, sound clips, and other graphics that all work together to provide information about a story.

It is important that multimedia is not redundant and it all flows together. The journalist does not want to have an article about a video and then the video next to it and then still images of the video next to that; it is boring and the audience will be wasting time.

Multimedia is different because the audience can choose how they want to navigate their way through the story. They can watch the video first, or read the story, or just look at the pictures. They can read and watch everything to get a full understanding of the story, or they can just view some of the sources and get a quick overview of the story.
