The Temptation of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is defined by dictonary.com as the unauthorized use or close imitation of the language and thoughts of another author and the representation of them as one's own original work.

In a day and age where news is old within hours it is no surprise that journalist are tempted to plagiarize from sources other than their own. Because of this day in and day out Journalist are pressured to write news stories, and that become very demanding.

In journalism the biggest goal is to get your story out first, and this leads down a road to plagiarism. Not only is this a factor but it is much easier for a journalist to plagiarize an international story than to have actually been there to write the story about it.

Now in no way is this a defense for plagiarism but it is understandable why one would be tempted. It is never acceptable to plagiarize, under any circumstances.
