What makes a good lede?

A good lead consists of five essential components: who, what, where, when, why, and how. It is important to have most of these five components in your lede because it is going to tell your audience what the article is going to be about and it is going to grab their attention.

The lede is the first thing your audience will read before they get to the article. Therefore, you have to put as much information in the lead as you can because it will make the readers want to read the story. Without a lead, the audience will not know what your article is about and will become uninterested.

  1. A lead can also include the answers to the questions, So what and What's next? If included in the lead, it shows more detail and interest to the reader.
