Focus Yourself.. and Your Profile

Journalists are often encouraged to really get to know the subjects they are interviewing. It is the job of a journalist to ask questions that fully capture enough information to create a good profile. The reporter must always stay professional and must always be prepared.

To compose a good profile, the reporter must arrange a solid set of interview questions, do research on the person they are interviewing, and familiarize themselves with whichever subject they are covering. If a journalist rushes into an interview without being ready and prepared, they may aggravate the individual being interviewed and be asked to leave -- or the interview could simply be cut short.

Being prepared and willing to listen are the most important steps in creating a good profile. Always be attentive, concentrate, and take notes. Taking notes when necessary will only strengthen your profile as you draw pertinent quotes from the interview to use in your exposition.
