You Wouldn't Steal a Car.

Plagiarism is a form of thievery. It is the passing off of someone else's creative work as your own. Even if the original is changed, it is still plagiarism if no permission was granted, or no credit was given.

Journalism is a very competitive field; therefore the idea of plagiarism and/ or making up stories is often tempting. When a journalist, blogger or writer reports fraud information it is called misrepresentation.

In this day and age when the internet is the most growing form of media, the act of plagiarism is much easier. Online articles appear in electronic text making the physical act of "copying" extremely simple.

It is still important that journalists keep their writing and reporting ethical and provide sufficient citing for their works. If they fail to do so they are undermining their integrity and credibility and in most cases are investigated for plagiarism and their employment is suspended or terminated.
