Journalists are tempted to plagiarize stories because news gets old quickly. If journalists copy another story or make up the facts that they assume are correct then they can get their story out quickly and on deadline.
It looks good for the reporter and station when journalists get their stories in first. If a reporter does not have all of the facts by the deadline they will sometimes just go with what is thought to be correct or hand in someone else’s story by deadline.
If journalists copy or fabricate their work then they can face severe penalties along with sharing an incorrect story to possibly hundreds or thousands of people. Even though journalists are tempted to hand in someone else’s work or hand in something that is not entirely true, they should not because of the penalties they can possibly receive.
Along with the penalties that journalists can receive their creditability as a journalist will also be ruined. Journalists can be fired from their jobs and because of their plagiarism it is possible that will not be hired for another job within the journalism field again.
