Profiling

When a journalist "profiles" an interviewee, they are sharing background information about the persons personal lives.

Profiling the person being interviewed is very important while trying to get a story across.

In order to profile an interviewee, the journalist must do a lot of research on the individual.

This includes, but is not limited to, asking about family history, their childhood, and their lifestyle.

The journalist is also expected to do some of their background research, either online or in the newspapers.

It is necessary to have this background information in order for the reader to fully connect with the story by understanding the person being interviewed.

Successful profiling is important in a news story.

Without it, a reader is less likely to be interested in following a story, and, therefore, is less likely to read it an article on it.
