Plagiarism is one of the worst crimes to commit in the writing world.
By plagiarizing you are using someone else's thoughts, ideas, or written word and claiming it as your own without giving proper attribution.
With the growth of the internet there has also been a direct correlation to the growth of plagiarism. The internet is one of the greatest luxuries we have to offer today, however while it is great being able to be able to retrieve information quickly it is a double edged sword for many journalists.
The in journalism industry there is a constant and relentless pressure from deadlines. No matter how well written, or how strong of a story you may have to present if it is not in by deadline it is good as not even being written.
With this pressure and the internet providing easy access to any information needed it makes it effortless for journalists to get the information needed. Knowing that many of their readers will not double check their sources makes it easy for journalists to plagiarize without a second thought.
The temptation to plagiarize is very high, however when in comparison with all they could the credibility they will loose, it’s not worth it.
